Adventures in Cooking: Chili!

I'm trying to use up some bags and cans of beans from food distribution after the hurricane. So I've made chili using different kinds of beans, but I use the same basic recipe merely substituting whichever kind of beans I have.

Ingredients

2 pounds ground beef

onion (as much or little as you want)

2-3 garlic cloves, minced

14.5 ounce can diced tomatoes

2 x 14.5 ounce cans diced tomatoes with green chile peppers (or you can use rotel to liven it up!)

14 ounce can tomato sauce

1 cup chicken broth

2 cans kidney beans

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 tablespoon ground cumin

2 tablespoons white sugar

salt to taste

black pepper to taste (or red pepper if you want it hot!)

1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce

Directions

In a large pot, brown ground beef. Add onion and garlic to the beef as you brown it.

Add tomatoes, diced tomatoes with chile peppers, tomato sauce, broth, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, sugar, salt, pepper and hot sauce. Simmer for 30 minutes. Serve.

I bought this at a kitchen store, and it is amazing for browning ground beef.

Do you have an easy chili recipe? If so, post it in the comments section. I'd love to try something new.
