Adventures in Cooking: Crock Pot Western-Style Cube Steak
If your family is like mine, there are dishes that are favorites through the years but have no recipe. It's just a bit of this, a dash of that and cook until done. Western-Style Cube Steak is one of those dishes in my family. So I decided to make a written recipe adding my own touch and using the crock pot in order to make it more tender. It's super simple, and you can double the ingredients if you want more sauce or are feeding more people.
Here's what I came up with:
1/2 c ketchup
1/4c BBQ sauce
T. Worchester sauce
Sliced onion (one or two onions depending on how much cooked onion you want)
Cubed steak (one per person)
Mix the ketchup, BBQ sauce, mustard and Worchester sauce in the bottom of the crock pot. Top with onions. Place the cube steak on top. Cook on low for 4-6 hours.
Serve with rice.
